Overview
The Therapy cards were created to aid in the therapeutic process as a non directive tool and help both clients and therapists go through a process of thought and reflections while giving more meaning to the experiences they are going through.
Therapy cards is a tool that can be used at any phase of the therapeutic journey and help to create a safe space where clients can explore their
feelings and help them reflect on the abilities they possess to deal with the challenges and difficult times in their lives. The cards can also be used to
unblock the therapeutic process when it reaches an impasse.
The images on the front of the cards can help clients connect with the present moment, while the questions at the back can serve to help clients
reflect, analyse and critically evaluate their feelings, behaviours and thoughts.
The stages in the process
The Therapy Cards help the clients to :
- verbalize what they are experiencing in a dialogue with the therapist
- identify and express their emotions which then creates emotional
- intelligence which is crucial for empathy
- externalize painful and other sensitive experiences
- learn how to make healthier choices
- understand the outcome of their actions
- develop coping strategies and manage stress
- experience new and deeper insights
- improve mental wellbeing
The Therapy cards are to be used by warranted caring professionals in individual, group, couples or family therapy sessions.
Each card is designed to facilitate reflection, analyses and critically evaluate feelings, behaviours and outcomes.
Here is an example from “Therapy Cards”.The cards are colour coded to reflect the phase.
Each card has a key text and picture to help visualise the message. The back of the cards contains a list of questions intended to make you think and talk about, the last point on the card is a reflection on a possible way forward
